Due to threats of inclement weather brought on by Hurricane Helene the organizers have decided to postpone our drive until October 20th. Looking forward to some cooler temperatures for the drive though!
Antique cars have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My childhood was filled with the sound of engines and the sight of classic beauties in my grandfather's garage. At any given time, he had a dozen cars – some in pristine condition, others needing a little TLC. His name was Chuck McCans, and he was more than just a car enthusiast. Sadly, when I was a teenager, we lost him to prostate cancer.
Years later, when my son left for his Junior year at UVM with my car, it gave me the perfect excuse to fulfill a long-held dream: buying a classic car of my own. But Anne Marie and I decided we didn't just want a car—we wanted something with a little more character. Enter Chuck, our 1952 Chevy 3100 pickup, named in honor of my grandfather.
Now, I'm taking this beautiful piece of history on the road for a cause that’s deeply personal to me. I'm driving to raise awareness and funds for the fight against prostate cancer, a disease that took my grandfather too soon. And I hope you'll join me in making a difference.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to a cure. Together, we can help ensure that other families don’t have to face the loss we did.
Thank you for your support, and let's drive toward a cure!
