Saturday 28thIm in the big push now trying to reach £2000 by the departure in the morning
it promises to be a great day with 100 cars leaving our West London base Duke of London
im anout to start a day of preparing the verte argent Citroen Maserati for its close up

Friday 27thIt looks like West London are at the top of the leaderboard !!!

On Saturday cars will be pampered like poodles at a parlour as we get ready for Sunday's departure
around a hundred cars are leaving
Brentford from Duke of London at Dock Road
i called my friend across the last couple of days who is suffering right now
i feel a distance there as he hasn't answered the phone but im pleased to say he has messaged me
i feel such sadness at what the dear soul is going through its bloody awful
he is such a talented decent human and he has coloured the lives of all that meet him
what a cruel disease attacking a place that ordinarily is where the first steps of our creation emenate from
Almost There
Saturday 14thThank you to all of you who have donated
we are almost there with our target
my dear friend is still with us
increasingly frail
its odd having the chance to say goodbye
i thought it a luxury
but right now do not know how to feel about his future demise
my own prostate issues are being monitored
the annoying night bathroom visits continue
but im confident im in good hands
in a lighter note i will be preparing my Citroen SM today for next week's drive
have a lovely weekend and dont forget to tell your loved ones that they are loved xx
The phone call
Wednesday 7thA few weeks ago I answered my phone
a familiar voice, a warm one
we engaged in a little light banter
my dear and close close friend then announced in a voice with a lower octave and a sinister edge
"Lance, I'm dying of prostate cancer!"
I reponded, "whats your PSA number? mine is 9 and rising"
"200" he said
without breaking step i kept things going through the shocking news with an irreverent
you always have to show off !
since then we have celebrated his birthday
We did not mention the devil's name nor any reference to my super talented friend's malaise that had come knocking, knocking the bloody door down instead we felt the sunshine in a smart countryside pub garden whist having lunch and gorging a truly magnificent black forrest gateau that had been made specially by angels at Kew's top tea shop that we had brought along
what now?
the luxury,
a luxury of saying an extended goodbye to someone who has literally coloured my life
I do not know what time his clock will stop ticking
nor mine in fact or anyone's
but we will share love
because one thing we can learn at this juncture is . . .
thats all that really matters
Getting behind the wheel for The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive
Wednesday 31st On Sunday, September 29th 2024, I'll be taking part in The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive. Together with thousands of classic car enthusiasts around the world, I will be raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health for the charity, Movember.Before the dapper day, I'll be looking to raise as much as possible for the cause, to help men around the world live happier and healthier lives. With men's chances of developing prostate cancer later in life increasing, and one man dying every minute by suicide, we must do all we can to prevent more men from suffering.
This is something that affects us all and together, we can make a change. Please give what you can.
