Hi everyone, great to have you take part in the Gold Coast edition of the DGD. due to all the road works on the Gold Coast at the moment I have tried to find a nice route that will avoid the roadworks and the M1 and provide some nice bends and a few hills in the countryside.
We will meet at the boat ramp carpark at Emerald Lakes, Carrara at 8am. It has a great backdrop of European style buildings across the lake for a few photos. If you want to get there a bit earlier I suggest you have a look in the main area of Emerald Lakes, it is very picturesque and great for photos for single or a small number of cars. There's also a cafe to grab the early morning coffee if you want, I think the Gloria Jeans opens at 7am.
We will then drive from Emerald Lakes to the Gold Coast Motoring Museum at Upper Coomera who will be expecting us. There is a great restaurant there that does breakfast until 10.30 and lunch from 11.30. Scones and coffee only in between those times. The adjacent museum is worth a look, not sure what the entry price is.
They will have an area for us to park the cars on the grassforpeople to admire the cars.
I have included a Google Maps link to show the route.
If you are travelling from down south, one of our Distinguished Gentlemen Drivers, Rad Soames, will be driving from Burleigh Heads to Emerald Lakes with a few other drivers. If you are keen to join them, you can contact Rad on 0434423396 for times and location.
I look forward to meeting you all and catching up with some of the drivers from previous years. Remember to get in to the spirit of the drive and dress accordingly. Only 5 weeks to go, spread the word and lets try and get a good bunch of people to take part.
Cheers,
Bill
